About four years ago I wrote on Ex-JW forum that it was my conclusion that the proposal of using the Biblical precedent for “two witnesses” was a ploy which must have been instigated to hide pedophiles high up in the JW hierarchy.

The cleverness of the idea is that although it is illogical, since sexual perversion is by nature hidden, yet at the same time the Bible with its Bronze Age rulings, mentions the need for two witnesses before penalties are awarded to an accused person. The opportunist and pharisaical JW leaders chose to take the Jewish law literally and dogmatically without reference to reason and with self protection in mind.

Today I just found out who it was that introduced it: Theodore Jaracz.

Another appalling tragedy, the result of convoluted reasoning, guilt and cultic teachings. The woman was still a believer in the JW belief system though excluded from fellowship.

I once had it explained to me by a sister who cheerfully reasoned that it was better to die to avoid the problems of remaining faithful and having to endure the stress of surviving Armageddon. I had to show her that this was a serious mistake and mentally unhealthy.

If you belong to a religion which puts “belief” and obedience to the Watchtower as the prime good above the value of the one life you experience-- as the JW cult does, it is not surprising that suicides and family murders will continue in this community.

just heard that a young brother committed suicide this week - the whole congregation is naturally very distressed.

what a tragedy.

according to my source he'd only been married about a year and his wife found him - he’d hung himself.

@ scratchme, don't you think that more to the point is the total disregard by JW HQ of the down side of their cult, the real consequences of being a JW-- private self loathing, cognitive dissonance, the neurotic obsession with religion, the suppression of personal expression and fulfilment?

Through the Watchtower study and JWTV they only project the way they think their flock should be, and not confront the reality of their followers who struggle to meet the inhuman standards they set.

There are much better and happier ways of living than slaving for the JW org. The poor man who died may have had problems but JW beliefs are never a practical help for troubled people.

at today's wt study about child baptism, someone commented and she pointed to the picture of the little girl playing with her teddy bear.

she said, 'she may be looking at her bear and thinking about getting to play with bears in the new system.

her parents notice this, and they decide since it's real to her she may be ready for baptism.

I think the word needs to be spread around the congregations that if you don't want to get disfellowshipped, then don't get dunked.......

Another example to show that the JW governing body are only self interested in their survival as a viable religious corporation. Their focus is to keep the membership numbers high enough to perpetuate the religion and its income.

If they were really putting spiritual things first they would put the welfare of their followers first and have responsible adults who love their children unconditionally. This would involve unselfishly putting the emotional development and education of their offspring as a priority . Instead of this common sense and loving approach, what does the JW leadership call for?............Entrapment!............. Stick your children into a dire brainless cult, get them baptised so they can't leave without breaking up the family bonds.

The JW religion is ruthless -- to encourage baptism for youngsters at an age before they can evaluate the lifetime consequences of doing so is a callous trap. If you value happy family life and common sense, have nothing to do with this abusive cult!

Is it possible that this measure is a response to the correct accusation that JW HQ withholds information which is valuable to the police? Are they now making a registration to show that they comply?

Or is it the thin end of another wedge?

I remember an alarm going off in my head back in the seventies when they decided to 'enforce volunteer' in that way that the Watchtower does, that all congs should use the Org (it was called "the Society" back then) for the purpose of insuring kingdom halls with HQ. This gave them an extra income plus the details of the title deeds to all the properties worldwide. It paved the way in the next decade for a take-over of all the deeds to all the KHs--this audacious move was a financial coup worthy of the greediest capitalist who would take advantage of the innocent.

Is a similar loss of freedom being plotted in the new registration? They already have the minds and hearts of their lobotomised followers, what more do they want?

Possibly the information leading to harvesting the estates of members and ex members who die intestate?

while true, the chart below showing numbers of victims for jw was the lowest of all persecuted groups.

even lower than spanish republicans.. im guessing there have been more victims due to the wt blood policy.

Lies from the watchtower

i am interested in getting a list of lies that the watchtower has said or wrote in the past that could actually be proven to be as such, or, for the very least, deliberately misleading.

A very good question Stephane and an excellent reply Bennyk.

A big lie to demonstrate your point; from the 1950s or perhaps a bit later the slogan was that the generation which saw 1914 would also see the end of the "old system of things". The same lie for three generations during which time this carrot was dangled to the Watchtower donkeys who gave up their right to their own choice of life-style and served the Watchtower in mind word and deed. They never saw the promised reward, no because a Jehovah's Witness never does-- however the organisation became very rich by offering this false lure.

I do find it almost impossible to find anything at all which the JW org has said which is actually true and useful to know. Virtually everything they say turns out to be false, a false hope. Whatever they say, preach or indicate will happen it is not worth believing or putting faith in since it is either plain wrong or it is sooner or later replaced with another dodgy belief which also has no practical value in knowing it.

If you value freedom and sound reason: do not listen to Jehovah's Witnesses!

Everything the JW org says is useless except for the purpose of HQ controlling the minds of their dumb followers.

What the Watchtower fears most is the loss of its money.

It expresses its fears in masked Freudian proclamations at the summer conventions. (A recent example is the plea to stay loyal since so many are waking up and deserting.) They fear most of all to be exposed as a non-religion and have their rights to preach and make money withdrawn. So they use Biblical imagery to echo their worries.

If they were "spiritual" this would not matter because the message would be held to be more important than the organisation but they are not, they are a business first, and they fear government authority which might tax them and make their religious racket non-viable.

Let's hope the governments do step in, tax uncharitable charities and stop the abusive religions.

On and off again JW girlfriend

hello everyone, i have an on and off again ex who is a jw.

each time her family gets involved and she's gone again.

i'm debating biting the bullet and doing the work to become baptized, so we can follow through with our engagement.

Don't even think for a moment about getting dunked as a Jehovah's Witness for any reason.

It is like throwing your life away, your freedom to choose what you want to do or say. You would most certainly regret it.

If you married your girlfriend, even if she agreed without you being baptised it is almost inevitable that there would be repercussions. She might well decide she needs to devote all her time to the cult, she may insist that your offspring will not have a blood transfusion etc. It would be hell. There is a better life elswhere which has nothing to do with cult obligations.

Only if you are mentally feeble, uneducated, friendless and desperately poor AND totally incompetent should you consider becoming a JW.
